At the
Museum of Appalachia
we’re committed to preserving our past.
This unique facility has collected, preserved, and made accessible to all the artifacts of a fragile and fascinating part of America. The Museum, the largest of its kind in the nation, tells the story of the Appalachian region through the items left behind by ordinary folks. Some 100,000 visitors, including 4,000 schoolchildren, are captivated each year by this personalized presentation of history.
The Museum was founded nearly 50 years ago through the private enterprise and vision of John Rice Irwin, but today it operates as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) institution.
We need the help of committed individuals like you to preserve the relics of our past—and to educate future generations about our history.
Without your help, this inspiring heritage may be lost.
We’ve established an endowment fund to ensure the Museum’s long-term financial stability; we invite you to talk with us about planned giving, estate gifts, and other options for tax-deductible contributions. Please contact:
