From
sheep-shearing to
anvil shooting,
there's plenty to do
at the
Museum of Appalachia!
In addition to our annual events--Tennessee
Fall Homecoming,
the Spring Sheep Shearing, July
4th Celebration and Anvil Shoot,
and Christmas in Old Appalachia--
we
frequently have things going on that you'll not want
to miss!
Our Porch Musician Project (funded in part by the Tennessee Arts Commission's "Art Builds Communities" program) provides live, daily performances of authentic old-time music to the thousands of people who tour the Museum each year, often introducing visitors to a type of music they've never before heard. We're proud of our Porch Musician Project and believe that it makes a valuable contribution to the preservation of our traditions and history. It's also a very popular feature of the regular Museum tour; visitors often comment on how much the live music adds to the Museum experience.
