Step back in time and experience life as a true Appalachian Pioneer. Take part in this weeklong hands-on history camp with an array of pioneer activities. Attend school in the one room, early 1800s, Big Tater Valley School House, learn the art of leather-working, help cultivate and harvest the garden and care for the animals. There will be old fashioned games, quilting and weaving in the Mark Twain Cabin and Peters Homestead, storytelling, open hearth cooking, and an introduction to Southern Appalachian music.

Basic Summer Camp 2013 Information:

Weeklong camp runs June 17-21, from 9am ~ 3pm

For kids 8-10 years old, 20 spots available

Drop off and pick up times. Morning Drop Off: 9 ~ 9:15am. Afternoon Pick Up: 3pm.

Please remember to pick up your child(ren) promptly. We start and end each day on the lawn in front of the Hall of Fame Lawn, located to the right of the Main Entrance Building.

Please complete and sign the registration form and drop it off, email, mail or fax it to the Museum of Appalachia. This information will allow our staff the opportunity to become familiar with any needs your child may have. If you have two or more children attending, please fill out a form for each child.

Applications will be accepted in the order in which they are received. Once an application has been reviewed and processed, a letter and additional forms will be sent confirming the camper's enrollment.
